Born and raised along the Pacific Ocean in Redondo Beach, California, Amber was first introduced to yoga nearly twenty years ago as a compliment to other sports she was currently practicing. Realizing the organic nature of the yoga practice, Amber decided to pursue yoga as a personal hobby, namely because it “felt so good.” It wasn’t until after a snowboard injury that she discovered the healing properties of the practice. Following her recovery, Amber began exploring other healing modalities and spiritual traditions. Intrigued by the cultural nuances of these traditions, as well as her own Native American roots, Amber embarked on the academic route of “understanding,” earning a bachelor’s degree in history from University of California, Santa Barbara, followed by a master’s degree in cultural studies from New York University. Reconciling the reality that the intellectual quest was not enough, Amber began dedicating more of her energies to the traditions themselves. Her journey ultimately led her to India, where she received her yoga teacher training in Ashtanga and Vinyasa methods. She has since taught in both group and private settings in France, India and the USA, and currently leads organized retreats in the Tuscan countryside.
