This section focuses on how to safely &amp; confidently lead a active breathwork session from beginning to end. We cover cueing, timing, voice, structure, challenging scenarios and integration. The aim is to develop clarity in communication &amp; confidence in delivery, while allowing space for your own approach to emerge.&nbsp;

The Method

We begin with the fundamentals of breathing. You'll learn how different breathing patterns influence the nervous system. The relationship between oxygen &amp; carbon dioxide. What occurs in the body during active breathwork - from physical sensations to shifts in emotional state. This creates a clear foundation for understanding the practice, allowing you to work with it in a informed and grounded way.

The Breath

Music plays a key role in shaping the emotional arc of a breathwork journey. We explore how things like BPMs, lyrics, and specific instruments or genres can be used to build a coherent progression, from opening through to peak intensity and resolution, and how to select &amp; sequence music in a way that supports that journey.&nbsp;

Music

Active breathwork can reveal a range of physical sensations &amp; emotional responses. We'll explore how these experiences arise, how they differ from person to person, and how to relate to them compassionately. The emphasis is on developing sensitivity &amp; discernment, without rushing to define or interpret what's happening.

Energetics

You will learn techniques for how to create a structured &amp; supportive environment for group practice: one that allows participants to move through the experience while maintaining a sense of safety &amp; grounding. This includes sharpening your tools of tone, pacing, presence, active listening, and empathy.

Holding Space

You will have the opportunity to guide one breathwork session each day throughout the training. You will work in small groups, receive guidance, and observe others. Equal emphasis is placed on being in the facilitator role and in the participant role, experiencing the work from both perspectives.

This training takes place over four full days in person, in Lisbon, Portugal. Each day runs from 12pm-6pm. Expect a 45 minute break each day.&nbsp;

For the past decade, The Sacred Fig has been at the forefront of yoga &amp; breathwork education world-wide. Our graduates have gone on to open yoga studios, lead their own trainings, write books, create wellness curriculum for multi-national companies, and so much more.&nbsp;Active Breathwork is an incredibly potent tool that has the capacity to transform. &nbsp;It can help people move emotion quickly, into something deeper than words. The power of the experience is not just in the technique: it is in the space that holds it. This training is about learning to hold that space.Over four days at Leela Lisboa, we will work with active breathwork as both a personal and facilitation practice. You will learn how to guide others into widened states of consciousness safely &amp; intentionally. You'll learn how to read a room, how to respond to what arises, and how to stay grounded while others are moving through intensity.This training is both technical and relational. &nbsp;You'll learn how to guide both 1:1 and group sessions. &nbsp;You'll leave confident for how to design a class, to hold space compassionately, to weave in intention, to use music artfully, to communicate the science of breathwork, and so much more.&nbsp;Expect to spend time both practicing and facilitating. You will breathe, you will hold space, and you will begin to understand the difference between sharing the technique and facilitating the experience.Whether you're a yoga teacher, a coach, a therapist, or simply someone drawn to this work, this training is designed to deepen your capacity both for yourself and for others.

Breathwork Facilitator Training

<h2>About Lisbon</h2>Lisbon is having her moment. While it seems that everyone is making their way here, it's ultimately a city that reveals itself slowly. It’s textured rather than polished. Tiled facades, worn stone, and grandmas hanging their laundry on the lines outside their balconies. The energy here is more spacious than frantic.&nbsp;Lisbon's weather is a lot like California. Often times in November it still feels like the remnants of summer are holding on.&nbsp;One if its biggest charms is that its completely walkable. &nbsp;There's stunning parks everywhere, with little kiosks where you can grab a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at dusk.&nbsp;This is a non-residential training, so you’ll arrange your own accommodation. Lisbon offers a wide range of options within walking distance or a short ride away, and we’re happy to point you in the right direction.Expect good coffee each morning, dinners after class each day with your new friends, and a city that supports the process without trying to define it.

<h2>Prerequisites</h2>A good attitude, and an open mind. &nbsp;A sense of openness &amp; a desire to learn are the most important things you can bring to this training.Ability to communicate in English. Please read the book: Breath. The New Science of a Lost Art, by James Nestor. Books are purchased at the trainee’s expense.&nbsp;No need to bring these books to training with you.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>The Studio</h2>This training takes place at <a href="https://www.leelalisboa.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Leela Lisboa</a>, our studio in Lisbon.&nbsp;Leela is a design-forward yoga studio that shimmers. It's warm &amp; grounded, with high-quality authentic materials. It’s a space built for depth, introspection and community.We'll meet each day in the shala, designed to hold group experiences. The space is temperature controlled, is fully stocked with Manduka mats, Portuguese blankets, an epic sound system, and overall good vibes.&nbsp;Leela also has an our outdoor Wet Terrace, complete with a traditional Finnish sauna and two cold plunges.&nbsp;This is a non-residential training. You’ll book your own accomodations nearby, and come into the studio each day.
